Start with the collection’s care recommendations
Check the material name and any available cleaning information. If you do not have it, contact the supplier or the workshop that made the upholstery.
Choose a product suited to the particular surface and follow both its instructions and the recommendations for the material. The words “for upholstery” on the packaging do not explain every limitation.
Remove loose dirt
Gentle vacuuming with a suitable attachment removes loose dirt before further cleaning. Pay attention to seams and areas where particles collect.
Avoid vigorous rubbing and hard tools unless the collection’s care recommendations allow them. Your technique should suit the surface texture.
Test a hidden area first
Before cleaning a larger area, test the product in an inconspicuous place. Check the colour, texture and surface once it has dried.
Avoid soaking the material or its backing. Use the amount of product and the removal method recommended for the particular cleaning product and material collection.
If you are unsure

Tell a specialist the material name, the type of stain and which products you have already used.
Allow the upholstery to dry
After cleaning, provide ventilation as recommended for the method used. Use the car interior once the upholstery has dried.
If the stain remains or you do not know how the material is constructed, discuss the next steps with a specialist. Choosing the right method matters more than repeatedly trying unsuitable cleaning methods.
